Image Specs

Due to its moderate size, a high powered narrow field telescope was used to capture this stunning nebula - the Meade 12" ACF Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope (SCT) F/10 reduced down to F/6.2 on a Losmandy G11 equatorial mount.

The image is comprised of a mosaic 3 panels to capture the stunning detail. Each panel consists of 10 frames at 150 seconds per frame. Calibration dark and flat frames were added (50 in total per panel) to remove noise. All frames were then stacked/aligned and stitched together to form the entire image. The Optolong L-extreme narrow band filter was used to capture the Hydrogen Alpha and Oxygen III spectra emitted by the nebula. A OSC cooled QHY 168C camera, dialled down to minus 10 degrees C to reduce thermal noise, Post processed with Affinity Photo.
