Due to the Moon's proximity to Earth, a low powered wide field telescope was used to capture this unusual event in history of the 2019 Australian Fire Season - a Newtonian F/6 300mm x 1800mm long telescope to maximise the light gathering power in poor atmospheric smoke filled conditions.

This a single frame exposed at under one second in time, with the Fuji X-E2 16MP camera at prime focus. No filters were used in the capture of this image to ensure the correct colour balance and maximum light reach in heavy smoke polluted skies. Post processed with Affinity Photo.
